Roots Aarhus is turning two and celebrating with a massive party. They've managed to secure two of the biggest bands from our domestic folk scene: BASCO featuring JULLIE HJETLAND and HABADEKUK, who will be bringing the house down with their tunes on this final evening of May at turkis!

BASCO FEAT JULLIE HJETLAND
Scottish multi-instrumentalist Hal Parfitt Murray, Danish fiddlers Andreas Tophøj and Anders Ringgaard, talented citern player Villads Hoffman, and the enchanting Danish/Norwegian singer Jullie Hjetland interpret legends and myths from the old Nordic lands with such fervor and excitement, love, joy, sorrow, and hatred. Basco's sparkling play, Jullie's luminous voice, and a handful of Scandinavian composers have breathed new life into ancient Nordic songs, releasing the swirling melodies: with moods ranging from fast Scottish reels, flying Norwegian halling dances, polkas under the Danish summer, and echoes of the elven maidens in the deep Swedish forests.
HABADEKUK
Hard-hitting horns, fiery violin, and captivating rhythms characterize Habadekuk - one of Denmark's leading folk bands that will get you straight onto the dance floor. The powerful blend of salsa, jazz, and folk brings new life to the old legendary tunes of the minstrels. Expect everything from wild polkas and jigs to lyrical waltzes and raw sailor songs in an unforgettable live experience. The repertoire includes both brand new tracks and traditional music from as exotic places as Thy, Fanø, Læsø, West Zealand, and Bornholm. The band has become a guarantee for energetic and intense concerts, already thrilling audiences in Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Habadekuk is a versatile mix of musicians from all corners of the Danish music scene, all highly professional and with a knack for celebration!
