Join us for a truly special event in the Turquoise Garden with flamenco, paella, and sherry!
We are welcoming some of Spain’s greatest young flamenco talents – and they are best experienced live! We dare say that in just a few years, they’ll be performing on the world’s biggest stages.
From the converted horse carriage, delicious drinks will be served, and for the curious, there will be a small flamenco workshop. Meanwhile, the paella chef will bring out the giant pan and prepare an abundant seafood paella on the spot.
PROGRAM
➤ 16:00 – Lakelands’ horse carriage bar opens with sherry and Spanish vibes
➤ 16:30–17:00 – Flamenco workshop for all
➤ 17:15–19:00 – Concert with Flamencoglobe and Kirstine Hastrup (with an intermission, paella serving and sherry tasting during the break)
➤ 19:00–22:00 – The horse carriage bar stays open for a couple more hours
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This visit is part of Jerez de la Frontera’s bid to become European Capital of Culture and the international flamenco festival KRIATURA, created and led by Danish artist Kirstine Hastrup. It also marks Denmark’s EU presidency and highlights the vital role of culture in a time when we need to come together. In a world marked by crises, conflicts, and distance between people and countries, culture has a unique ability to build bridges.
This event is a celebration of what connects us – and an example of how art and culture can open doors where politics and conflict cannot.
SHERRY, WINE TASTING AND PAELLA
The young artists come from Jerez de la Frontera – the home of sherry! Sherry is one of the world’s most complex and mythical wines. Full of stories, mysteries, and secrets – and still one of the most underrated.
Thorbjørn Carl Hjalager from Lakelands, an expert in Spanish wine and food culture, will guide the audience through a wine experience beyond the ordinary. But this is not just a wine tasting – it’s a sensory journey. As they say in Andalusia: You can taste the music and listen to the wine. Here, wine, music, and dance merge into a complete experience.
While the music plays, the paella chef will prepare an abundant seafood paella on-site – in a giant pan. It will be served during the break and enjoyed during the second set of the concert.
