L'ARANNÁ
Anna Sala (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) and Lara Magrinyà (Ibiza) formed L’arannà after pursuing formal studies in classical music. In 2024, they released La salamandra, an album inspired by their research into the stories of Mercè Rodoreda, one of the main Catalan writers of 20th century.
Turmarí is a musical performance that brings new value to cant redoblat—an indigenous vocal style of the Pityusic Islands and a key expression of their cultural heritage—alongside folk melodies from the popular songbook and the instruments woven into the islands’ folklore.
This reimagining takes shape through the creation and composition of an original, innovative repertoire that allows these roots to emerge in a contemporary context, seen through the lens of a young, female, and rising group committed to exploring electronic soundscapes.
Cant redoblat is a defining element of the traditional music of Ibiza and Formentera. Its distinctive, intense vibrato reflects a broader Mediterranean custom of richly ornamented monodic singing.
