SANTROFI
Santrofi is a young Ghanaian superband formed in 2019 by eight of Accra’s most talented musicians, united by their love of highlife. Led by producer and bassist Emmanuel Kwadwo Ofori, the group blends vintage highlife grooves with modern energy and a hip hop sensibility. Its members have played with legends such as Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas, and AB Crentsil, as well as collaborated with rising stars like Black Sherif and Kidi.
Since their formation, Santrofi has thrilled audiences around the world—from Roskilde Festival to Japan, where they performed 13 sold-out shows. Their latest album, Making Moves, showcases how they renew the highlife tradition with funky horn sections, strong melodies, and lyrics about love, hope, and life’s challenges in Accra. Santrofi proves that highlife can be both danceable, innovative, and full of soul.
VIPEPEO
Experience dance and drumming from Tanzania’s Sukuma tribe! The dance group Vipepeo will bring energy and joy to the turkis garden with their performance of dance, music, and song.
Vipepeo is an Aarhus-based dance group that for over 20 years has explored the dance and drumming culture of Tanzania’s Sukuma tribe. Many of its members have traveled and lived in Tanzania, and several have roots there.
AFRICAN FOOTPRINT FOUNDATION
AFF works to establish an ensemble of both master drummers and aspiring musicians, ready to perform at events and participate in meaningful projects. Their goal is also to create an inspiring environment and opportunities for developing musicians and students interested in African music, and to give all citizens of Aarhus the chance to engage with African music and dance.
