Experience dance and drumming from the Sukuma tribe in Tanzania! The dance group Vipepeo will bring joyful energy to the turquoise garden with their show and workshop, inviting you to dance, play, and sing along.

Among other things, you can experience Bogobogobo – in Danish “Hakkedans” (“Chopping Dance”) – inspired by agricultural work in rural Tanzania, where drums are still used today to set the rhythm and motivate work in the fields. You will also hear beautiful Sukuma songs and have the chance to join in when the audience is invited to follow the drum rhythms and sing an African communal song.

Vipepeo is an Aarhus-based dance group that has, for over 20 years, cultivated the dance and drumming traditions of the Sukuma tribe in Tanzania. Many of the group’s members have traveled to and lived in the region, and several also have roots there.
