MAJA KJÆR JACOBSEN – WORKSHOP

Join a cozy workshop with Maja Kjær Jacobsen – Danish fiddler and composer. Maja is one of the strongest carriers of tradition in Danish folk music. She plays in many different constellations, including Maja Si Orkester, Fru Skagerak and Maskineri, and works as a teacher, author and collector of tunes with an impressive list of publications behind her.

BLÅT LYS - SYLFIDE

Experience Nordic folk dance in a new light, where old traditions meet LED dance costumes and UV light. The performance is built around the bal format, where music, song and dance merge and the boundaries between audience and performers are blurred.

The electroacoustic soundscape and crystal-clear vocals unite the Nordic folk tone with modern songwriting and elements from the pop world. The melodies draw on old dance tunes, elegantly wrapped in layers of synthesizers, strings, sounds of dancing feet and enchanting harp.

The lyrics also tap into our shared cultural heritage, exploring themes such as climate grief, femininity and mental vulnerability – always grounded in the past while reaching towards the future.

Look forward to an evening of folk music when these two superbands take the stage at turkis! This concert is presented in collaboration with Roots Aarhus.

JOSEFINA PAULSON & ROGER TALLROTH

Josefina Paulson & Roger Tallroth meet in melodies, polskas, waltzes and minuets with roots in Sala, Västmanland. Roger, known from Väsen and as the creator of the famous “Tallroth tuning,” has shaped the Nordic tradition for more than 40 years with his distinctive guitar playing. Josefina is a Riksspelman, world champion on nyckelharpa, and an internationally touring musician and producer, whose curiosity and passion for musical encounters have led her to contribute to more than 15 album productions.

CARA

CARA is an award-winning international folk band, touring the world with unique interpretations of Celtic music. With powerful vocal harmonies, fiddle, flute, guitar, piano, uilleann pipes and accordion, they present innovative arrangements of traditional material alongside critically acclaimed original songs. With over 20 years of experience, six studio and two live albums, and awards including the Irish Music Awards and Freiburger Leiter, they are celebrated for their energy, humor and charismatic stage presence.

VAEV

Experience the electro-folk duo Vaev when they bring the late-night party to turkis after the big dance bal in Stakladen!

As they put it themselves: “You could cheekily ask: ‘What happens if you plug in the Dala horse?’ The answer is: you get ‘Vaev’.”

Less cheekily: Vaev plays folk music and traditional songs mixed with their own compositions. The result is folktronica – a fusion of acoustic and traditional instruments with the possibilities of modern electronic music. Vaev has released two CDs, one of which was nominated for a Danish Music Award.
