On March 15, the musical meeting place turkis in Aarhus and artist-run platform lím collective invite you to a special pre-event for the film festival, Diaspora Shorts, which will be held in May at Ranum Asylum Center. The event brings together young people, artists and filmmakers for a day of film screenings, art workshops and community across cities and cultures.

Come and join us for an inspiring day in the name of community. We invite everyone interested to an eventful day with a double film screening, followed by artist talk and Q&A with the filmmakers. Plus, take part in a creative Ebru art workshop.

The event is created out of a desire to strengthen relationships, community and representation among young people - and we look forward to sharing the day with you. Everyone is welcome.

FILM SYNOPSIS

"তোষক ~ The Mattress"
The film follows Khuku, whose childhood is closely linked to nature and the village landscape. When this world suddenly breaks, she is forced to confront loss, change and her own choices. The Mattress is a poetic story about man's relationship with nature, ecological grief and personal awakening.
"অগমপারে ~ Beyond the Shore"
Rebati, a young journalist, moves between work, freedom and close relationships. The meeting with the reclusive painter Najeeb Tarek opens up a space for desire, vulnerability and self-reflection. Beyond the Shore explores longing, intimacy and the boundaries between reality and inner imaginations.

EBRU ART WORKSHOP – "Colors in the Memory of Water"

The workshop introduces the traditional Turkish art form of Ebru (marbling), where colors are formed on water and transferred to paper. The participants work practically with classic patterns and experience the interplay between color, movement and contemplation.
The workshop is facilitated by Seval, a trained chemist, and Cendel, an English teacher, who both have more than 10 years of experience in teaching and cross-cultural community work. Based on their shared interest in water and liquid memory, they explore the art of Ebru and the processes of marbling.
