MAMES BABEGENUSH

Mames Babegenush is an award-winning ensemble from Copenhagen, founded in 2004. They have gained both national and international acclaim for their unique interpretation of Eastern European klezmer traditions, infused with elements of classical music, jazz, and Nordic folk. The band is celebrated for its intense and captivating live performances, where technical brilliance and raw energy go hand in hand.

The group has performed on prestigious stages and festivals worldwide, including Carnegie Hall (NYC), The Royal Danish Theatre, Ravinia Festival (Chicago), Tønder Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (Germany), and Oslo World Festival. Their tours have taken them across Europe, North America, and South America, with performances ranging from intimate concert halls to major international festivals.

With seven critically acclaimed albums and collaborations with DR’s Big Band, string quartets, and international soloists, Mames Babegenush has established themselves as one of the most distinctive and innovative groups on the global world music scene.

DJ SABS is a selector and specialist with roots in anthropology and a deep understanding of global musical cultures. Her Roots & Hybrid repertoire spans Psychedelic Rock, Global Roots, Afrobeat, Arabic Disco, Desert Blues, Balkan Punk & New Wave, Oriental Dub, Avant-garde, and Global Club. She curates her mixes primarily on vinyl, complemented by digital files from Bandcamp when tracks are not available on record or are hard to source. DJ SABS closely follows new releases while also holding on to the classics, creating a cohesive and energetic flow where vinyl and musical selection take center stage.

With 16 years of experience behind the decks, DJ SABS has supported both well-known and emerging artists and curated sets for Danish and international festivals, making her sets musically informed, globally oriented, and engaging for audiences.
