PICNIC & JAZZ PÅ PERSISKE TÆPPER / ASTRID ENGBERG & WHO KILLED BAMBI
3/6/2026
Doors: 12:00 // Admission: 165 DKK // 250 DKK
At Picnic & Jazz on Persian Rugs, the audience is invited to enjoy two vegetarian, seasonal servings from MADkiosken, accompanied by the sound of jazz. Everything takes place outdoors in the garden next to turkis. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move the picnic indoors onto our carpet-covered floors.
We’ll take care of the food, the music, and the Persian picnic rugs – the only thing you need to bring is your own plates and cutlery. You’re welcome to lick your plate clean or make use of turkis’ dishwashing service before heading home or continuing on to Aarhus Jazz Festival. Water is free, and the bar at turkis will be open – so we kindly ask that you don’t bring your own drinks :)
We hope to see as many of you as possible for this cozy picnic. That’s why we offer two pricing options: one for smaller budgets and one for those who can pay a bit more. You choose the price that fits your situation.
Food cannot be purchased on arrival. There is a limited number of servings, so tickets must be bought in advance.

ASTRID ENGBERG & WHO KILLED BAMBI
With Lilies, the string ensemble Who Killed Bambi opens a new chapter in their musical universe. The single is the first glimpse of their upcoming album, where the ensemble once again invites a range of solo artists into close collaboration – this time with the critically acclaimed singer and producer Astrid Engberg, whose music moves effortlessly between the warmth of jazz and the pulsing presence of R&B.
The collaboration between Who Killed Bambi and Astrid Engberg was born from a modern love story – an Instagram thread filled with countless messages, shared musical enthusiasm, and mutual curiosity. Only this year did the timing feel right to take the next step and create a tour together, and Lilies was written specifically for this encounter.
“I was deeply moved by Astrid’s beautiful lyrics for Lilies. We decided to give it time and space to unfold – and I had the opportunity to compose a new, grand string introduction that slowly opens the door to the song’s universe. I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out – it’s both fragile and majestic at once,” – Mette Dahl Kristensen, Artistic Director of Who Killed Bambi
For Astrid Engberg, the collaboration has been an opportunity to let her music be carried by a new, organic layer:
“It’s been amazing to experience how Who Killed Bambi works with the strings as a living, breathing organism. They create space around the music, allowing every word and every note to breathe. Lilies has taken on a new life in the meeting with their universe,” - Astrid Engberg
The result is a song that balances between Engberg’s personal, poetic expression and Who Killed Bambi’s open, playful approach to music. Lilies is both intimate and grand – like a musical breath holding both light and darkness.
Astrid Engberg released her debut album Tulpa in 2020, which received critical acclaim and established her as one of the strongest voices on the Danish music scene. Over the years, Who Killed Bambi has collaborated with artists across a wide range of genres – and Lilies joins a series of encounters where the strings continually find new roles to play.
