SUDAN SOLIDARITY BAZAAR

17/1/2026

Doors: 14:00 // Admission: Free

SUDAN SOLIDARITY BAZAAR
Organized by Sudan Solidarity Network in Aarhus

On April 15, 2023, violent conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), beginning in the capital, Khartoum, and quickly spreading across the country.

Over 9 million people are internally displaced in Sudan and about 12 million have fled their homes, making it the largest displacement crisis in the world. It is estimated that more than 150,000 people have lost their lives.

Humanitarian groups, including the Danish Refugee Council, warn: “If bullets don’t kill, hunger will.”. Sudan’s conflict has created the world’s largest hunger crisis, with around 25 million people - half the country’s population - facing acute hunger. Sudan has been described as facing the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

Despite the scale of this crisis, Sudan receives very limited media coverage - both globally and in Denmark. It has been called “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis you rarely hear about”.

This lack of attention has serious consequences:

  • Less political pressure on international authorities and actors

  • Fewer donations to humanitarian organisations

  • A silencing of Sudanese voices at a time when they need most solidarity

This event is an effort to:

  • Spread awareness about the crisis in Sudan

  • Raise funds for humanitarian aid

  • Create space for community, learning, and solidarity

PROGRAM:

14:00 – 20:00 | BAZAAR

Craft and food vendors, and artistic contributions from members of the Sudanese community in Denmark. All profits will be donated directly to humanitarian aid (specific organisation is to be decided)

14:00 – 20:00 | PHOTO EXHIBITION

A photo exhibition dedicated to raising awareness of the devastating situation in Sudan sought to amplify the voices and experiences of those impacted by the war. Showcasing the work of a diverse group of photographers, it presented perspectives deeply rooted in their personal narratives and lived experiences of displacement.

15:00 | TALK + EXHIBITION OPENING

More information will follow.

More activities will be added to the programme - and you can still contribute!

If you have something you’d like to sell, perform, or share, get in touch and be part of the day.
