LYDSPOR AARHUS – founding general assembly and concert

Join the kick-off of the association Lydspor Aarhus. A new, active forum connecting the city’s strong rhythmic music history with today’s music scene. After the general assembly, there will be a concert featuring a diverse group of musicians and songwriters from Aarhus.

Lydspor Aarhus

For many decades, Aarhus has been home to a rich and diverse rhythmic music culture that has left a clear mark on both the national and international music scene. With the association Lydspor Aarhus, the city’s musical heritage gains a new focal point.

Lydspor Aarhus will work to document, preserve, and communicate the rhythmic music history of Aarhus. The association is founded on the recognition that music is a central part of the city’s identity and a powerful cultural force.

“Music evolves, but without stories it loses its echo. With Lydspor Aarhus, we want to ensure that Aarhus’ rhythmic music history can continue to be heard, experienced, and inspire new generations,” says Astrid Elbek, spokesperson for the initiative group behind the new association.

Concert after the general assembly featuring:

Henning Stærk, Anders Pedersen, Marie Frank, Veronika Rud, Viktor Jæger, Astrid Elbek, Lene Nørgaard, Bjørn “Bønne” Petersen, Jesper Bo Knudsen.

Lydspor Aarhus aims to:

➤ Activate and communicate the history of Aarhus’ rhythmic music
➤ Create new cultural encounters across generations through talks, concerts, storytelling, and events
➤ Collect, digitise, and register historical material
➤ Preserve private collections, photos, films, posters, interviews, and memorabilia

Behind the initiative Lydspor Aarhus is a broad group of representatives from the music scene and the research community. The association collaborates with, among others, Aarhus University, Aarhus City Archives, The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Den Gamle By, as well as musicians, journalists, and private collectors.
